Hybrid Adaptive Bias OFDM-Based IM/DD Visible Light Communication System

Conventional optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) schemes, such as adaptively biased OFDM (ABO-OFDM) and hybrid asymmetrically clipped (HACO-OFDM), are unable to tap all the resources of subcarriers only achieve relatively high power efficiency. In this paper, a adaptive bias (HABO-OFDM) scheme for visible light communication (VLC) is proposed improve spectral efficiency HABO-OFDM scheme, different components combined transmission at same time, designed ensure non-negativity, well obtaining significantly Meanwhile, implementation complexity receiver notably lower than conventional superimposed schemes. Simulation results show that outperforms ABO-OFDM HACO-OFDM in terms both peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) The PAPR performance about 3.2 dB 1.7 ABO-OFDM. Moreover, we can see Eb(elec)/N0 required reach BER target other two schemes Bit rate/Normalized bandwidth range 3.5 8.75, which means higher range.
